General information for the business: For a new line of home dressmaking sewing patterns (PDF downloads and printed hard copies) Geographical areas: United Kingdom Data to include: This will potentially require quantitative and qualitative desk and focus group research. 1. Estimates of UK market size for sewing patterns, split by: a) indie designers (I can provide list) vs the Big Four (Burda, Simplicity, Vogue, New Look), b) PDF pattern downloads vs printed patterns c) identify developing trends in sewing patterns and potential new technologies which could impact on this (positively and negatively) 2. SWOT analysis of current independent pattern designers who sell their own branded home sewing patterns in the UK and key competitors who sell into UK distribution channels (mainly online stores).I will provide a list of key competitors and their brands. 3. Identify the market position of each current competitor range and produce a SWOT analysis of the key competitors and identify a niche in the market which I could tap into, as a new comer into this market, without an established (yet) brand. 4. Also to examine the different sewing pattern formats there are currently on the market in terms of PDF patterns for download and printed paper patterns to develop a concept for a new pattern type and format (new materials, new outer packaging which is easier to use than traditional paper envelope) I need this doing by an external party, as I am too close to my daily business to do this. Extra notes: I am repositioning my current local pop-up craft workshops business (sewing, knitting, dressmaking, crochet) based in Worcester (UK) to focus on becoming a UK national (and international) brand: Stitch & Steele (or new name). I am going to be donating 25% of my profits to charities in India & Africa which support women to learn crafts and business skills to become financially independent and to support their families/children. This will involve a wider range of products, including sewing patterns and a dressmaking book, plus online video tutorials and courses. I will be launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to pay for the development of the patterns range so would like some 3rd party independent market research doing on the potential market positioning for the range as pitch support material. My ideal freelance proposal is going to be someone who can demonstrate an affinity with the home crafting/dressmaking market and potentially experience in the market, preferably based in the UK.
