Lawyer - Land Disputes - Unadopted Road

In my deeds to the property it says that my house and the other 3 houses surrounding the un-adopted road are responsible for the maintenance of this road/pathway. I have since spoken to the Council who have informed me that it’s not their responsibility to maintain it and that it's not a public right of way. The un-adopted road itself it over grown, full of litter, broken bottles and is a complete hazard for members of the public going down it. I would therefore like to close this pathway and each house adjoining the un-adopted road to push their boundary out to increase the size of land.
